FASCISM IN OHIO

I don't know if anyone else out there is concerned with how Fascism is creeping into our country.   Maybe no one gives a damn!   Maybe people are just too afraid that they are willing to let the Jackboots and Brownshirts of our governments do anything they want to curb our freedoms so that we may "feel" a little safer.  Do we still have a choice?  Do we want a choice?   Given the option of choosing feeling safe or having freedom of choice, which would you choose?

Case in point:
The weblink article below is titled,

the preceding article praises the police of a local community in Ohio, USA that is using technological means to "predict" crimes before they happen and make arrests.    This is incredibly insane.   This is very shaky ground.  What ever happened to the idea of "innocent until proven guilty"?  Now if you read the article you'll say, "Yeah but this guy had stolen goods on him".   I don't deny that at this time but the time to ask these questions I'm posing is NOW; not after the abuse of technology strips us of our freedom, innocence and rights.  

What happens when incorrect and alleged information is entered into this database?

It is only a matter of time before police are making arrests on "suspected" criminals before any crime is ever committed.    Has 9/11 fucked us up that bad?   Who's asking the questions like, "Should we do this?" and "Should we be using technology in this way?"

Makes me think of the Steven Spielberg movie MINORITY REPORT.  This film is based on the short story (with same title) that was written in 1956 by popular science-fiction writer Philip K. Dick.  Many of his stories have been made into films.   Probably the other most recognizable story is "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" which was made into the film BLADE RUNNER.  I highly recommend you check out this film if you haven't seen it.    Here's the trailer for it.

Another great film that deals where surveillance in our culture is another character in the film even though it's not specifically spoken about.  The film shows how it is used and misused. Wim Wenders, THE END OF VIOLENCE.

Promote FREEDOM and INNOCENCE!  If the fascists gain control of our governments and our communities we will be no different from the Pre-WWII Germany and Italy.   Talk about ominous parallels.  We need to change our thinking to change our lives.   It's not the technology that's bad - it's the way people use it!
